Mr. Olympia (Jerry Stubbs) ve Ted DiBiase

I will say straight out that I never had
an affinity for Ted DiBiase. Just zero
interest. Nothing I can put my finger on.

But Jerry's "Mr. Olympia" persona? Chills!
One of my all-time favorites. That body was
incredible, and he was a damn fine athlete.

Mr. Olympia had range: He could be a dominating
bad-ass or a perfect suffering jobber, all with the
same level of conviction.

There was an upset in me to see him dominated by someone I
didn't like, but at the same time it was extraordinarily exciting.
I did not understand the implications of that as a kid!

But that anger at seeing him defeated was balanced with
the pure satisfaction of watching that hot bod get
worked over~!

The sleeper hold was a hot move to start with.
It was also a signature move of Mr. Olympia, so
seeing it placed on him as a slap in the face was
intense.

Jerry (masked or not) had an energy and presence that
was mesmerizing. There was a fire in there which added
to the overall appeal.

Oh, my!

Ol' goofy Ted slobbering on my man.
Understandable, but gross!

Jerry was one of the 'bigger' wrestlers back then.
Some matches will give you a crotch shot that
makes you do a double-take, rewind, and pause.
I think he must've worn multiple pairs of trunks to
keep that wand under control.

SO fucking hawt!!

The way it shoulda gone down! LOL!

Midatlantic Wrestling 4-03-82: Terry Taylor Vs. Rick Benfield

We did NOT have a means of getting
'Midatlantic' in BFE Florida where I was
growing up at this time, because I would definitely
have remembered Mr. Rick Benfield!!

Yellow tights in particular do a lot for me
since in my early adolescence 'fooling around'
session (which also was happening around the
time of this broadcast!) my opponent wore
yellow trunks and looked amazing!
(They're tricky: YT either work for ya real
good or they look awful. Not a lot of in-between!)

I especially like how they do the set-up
of matches with the host staring lovingly at the
TV screen as the wrestler's prominent image
looms over him...their crotches often perfectly
lined up with his face! LOL!

My introduction to Rick had the good fortune
of him going up against super-hunk Terry Taylor,
the original 'boy next door' sort that caught on
big back in the day.

Terry was in Mid-South (which is how I knew of
him, IIRC) and teamed up with his Aesthetic-Twin
Tommy Rogers later on to harness all that sex appeal
'for the ladies.' (Even with the sexist and homophobic
component of professional wrestling which was rampant
back then, they knew they had a wider audience for hot guys!)

Oh, what this would have done to my hormonally-wild
young self! I can barely contain myself now!

Mike Davis versus Dory Funk Jr.

Dory Funk Jr was a perfect heel to dominate
babyface Mike Davis.

Total 'sociopath makes light work of
innocent babe' vibe!

Mike's hair was perfect at this point.
He sort of got a little frazzled-looking as
things went on. But still the on-point
'Good Boy Next Door' look here.

"Down, boy--Stay down!"

Mike Davis versus Greg Valentine

Mike Davis splayed on his backside!

Delirious Mike on the ropes!

Controlled & manhandled!

Mike reminded me of the same general body type of
Brian Kerwin (The Misadventures of Sheriff Lobo)
and I was really into it/them at the time...and still!

Money shots.

Valentine dominates.
Davis prone.

Oh, Mike. Spank Bank for Life!

Punishment.

Laid out and vulnerable.
